Where I am: Crema Cafe – Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA
What I’m working on: Rep for NYC!
What and AWFUL day… The weather on Thursday was terrible, rainy, hot and humid. I was woken up by a VERY grumpy cop asking me to move my car for the gas company who was jackhammering on my street. It was 7AM… So since there was to be NO peace at my place I threw on some clothes and decided to venture to Crema Cafe in Harvard Square.
The commute was terrible. Due to the rain, I didn’t feel like taking the T and shlepping through the weather so I drove… Big mistake… I stopped to fill up my gas tank and after waiting 10 minutes for a pump, the attendant tells me the credit card machine isn’t working. After my grumpy cop experience I was not in a great mood and had some choice words with the attendant… Between driving to Cambridge and trying to find parking it took over an hour to get to Crema… Note to self (and all blog readers): Don’t drive to Harvard Square ever.
But all was not lost!! Eventually I found AMAZING parking right across the street from the cafe (UNHEARD OF!) and thankfully Cafe Crema lived up to all of it’s hype!
Coffee: Cappuccino $3 – Not only was this cappuccino the least expensive that Cafe Melange has tried to date, but it was by far the BEST tasting AND beautiful latte art! I almost didn’t use any Splenda, but of course that was out of the question… 😉 This cap, though it is only 6 oz for an in-house cup, was well worth the horrible morning. It completely turned my day around and I immediately wanted another.
Food: I had a scrumptious little hazelnut truffle ($1) that was to die for. Rich dark chocolate rolled in crushed hazelnuts… YUMMO! The quiche is also creamy, fluffy, light and has a flaky amazing crust! ($3.70). I also may or may not have had a half of a brownie which… well… just try it… SWOON!
Decor: Rustic and PLENTY of seating. Of course during the school year I hear it is next to impossible to find a seat.
Music: I wasn’t paying much attention to be honest because I had visitors! My wonderful old boss who works for the Cambridge Center for Adult Education stopped by and my friend Lindsay who is about as pregnant as you can get, met me for lunch. The location is fantastic for catching up with friends!
I had a coaching in preparation for my trim to NYC so I was focused on the rep for my lesson. Pieces were, Du bist der Lenz, In questa Reggia, and Tacea la notte. I can’t believe NYC is in just a few more days! EEK!
SO glad Crema Cafe made my day so much better! I had amazing cappuccino, food and company. While there, I was offered the church job I mentioned auditioning for on my review of Flat Black, and the sun finally came out! It was almost good enough to make up for the fact that my car got booted 4 hours later… But I digress.
